Flume created the Projects feature, to help contractors seamlessly organize their jobs, documents, people, and payments in one place organized under a project. Organizing projects effectively is crucial for contractors in order to ensure smooth operations, meet deadlines, and deliver high-quality results. Without proper organization, projects can become chaotic, which could lead to delays, miscommunication, and missed deadlines. Flume created the Projects feature, to help contractors seamlessly organize their jobs, documents, people, and payments in one place organized under a project. Continue reading below for the highlights of Flume’s project feature, as well as a step-by-step guide on how to create and organize your projects. 

How to Create a Project

See below for a full tutorial on how you can use the Flume Projects feature: 



Key benefits of the Projects feature include:

  • Keep all of your important details in one place - including your documents, contact information, estimates, invoices, and payments due

  • Contacts are automatically added to a project when used to create an estimate, invoice, or payment affiliated with the project.

  • Easily download transactions related to your project to track your cash in and cash out.



Step-by-step guide for creating a new Project:

  1. Click on “Projects” from the side nav on your Flume dashboard

  2. Click “New Project”

  3. Give your project a name, color, and (optional) description

  4. Click “Create project”

  5. Once your project is created, click on the project name to open it 

  6. Add contacts from your network that are associated with your project 

  7. Upload key documents under the “Documents” tab including contracts, proof of insurance, and lien waivers

  8. You’ll be able to edit the document details immediately filling out the document name, assigning it to contact (if applicable), setting a document type, and selecting an optional expiration date

  9. Remember to select your project for any existing or future estimates, invoices, transactions, and payments due for them to seamlessly be added to the project view
