“We’re running a business and doing our best to move that business forward. But without having good partners and good relationships it makes that more difficult. With Flume, we have the same access to the same information in one shared space. That just promotes the importance of partnership”

About Capozza Floor Covering – So Much More Than a Tile Store

“After serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict, Joseph A. (Buddy) Capozza Jr. started his flooring career with a local tile contractor. After nearly twenty years of installing tile and supervising he, and his wife Doris, founded Capozza Tile Co., Inc. in 1974. Working out of the basement in their family home, the assets of the company at that time consisted of a borrowed desk, a manual typewriter, and an adding machine. The family station wagon served as the only company vehicle.

In 1976, his son Joseph F. Capozza (Joe) joined the company and, alongside his father, continued to build upon their reputation of offering nothing but the highest quality service for  Commercial and Residential Tile. They acquired a showroom on Forest Avenue in 1982, adding carpet, resilient, and wood flooring to the company’s product offerings. To better reflect the wider range of services, the company was re-named Capozza Tile & Floor Covering Center.”

From paper checks to easy, transparent payments

We had the opportunity to meet Joe and Billie Capozza. Joe is the vice president of Capozza Tile & Flooring, while Billie manages accounts and billing. Billie mentioned to us that the general contractor world is still very much old-school. Before Flume, her business model relied on sending paper checks, paper files, and paper contracts that she had to send via mail. “There’s no security with that.”

“When I log in to Flume, I can see who I’ve paid. I can see who printed their check, or what status it’s in. If they say, ‘Hey, where’s my payment?’ I can say, ‘You printed it on this day… you just haven’t cashed it yet’.”

Using Flume, Billie and any connected business partners can see the status of payments and payment requests in one dashboard. Billie can now track if the digital or paper checks she sends have been deposited, and provide clear answers to her vendors regarding their payments.

The importance of partnership

“We’re running a business and doing our best to move that business forward. But without having good partners and good relationships it makes that more difficult. With Flume, we have the same access to the same information in one shared space. That just promotes the importance of partnership” – Joe Capozza
